Project Goal
To create a modern informational website for a medication intended to treat sore throat. The main objectives were to design a user-friendly structure, implement responsive layout, and migrate and organize all existing content (product description, instructions, reviews, professional materials) on a new platform.
Challenges
- The outdated design and rigid structure of the previous site lowered conversion rates and made it difficult for both patients and healthcare professionals to find relevant information.
- Content was scattered across various sources (PDFs, outdated HTML pages, internal documents), complicating updates and maintenance.
- The website lacked mobile responsiveness, resulting in poor engagement from users on phones and tablets.
- The client needed to launch an updated version of the resource quickly, while preserving the accuracy of all medical information and ensuring easy navigation.
Work Performed
Requirements Analysis and Structure Design
- Collected all source materials: product descriptions, usage instructions, packaging images, and dosage charts.
- Identified key target audiences: patients experiencing sore throat symptoms, pediatricians, and general practitioners.
- Designed the navigation so that all major sections (product details, composition, indications and contraindications, professional instructions, patient reviews) were clearly visible and accessible within the top-level menu.
Content Migration and Structuring
- Updated all texts according to the latest regulatory guidelines.
- Converted outdated HTML pages into a unified Markdown format, then imported them into WordPress using Gutenberg blocks.
- Optimized illustrations (packaging photos, throat anatomy diagrams) for the web — reducing file size while preserving clarity at scale.
Responsive Layout Implementation
- Based on approved design mockups, developed HTML/CSS layouts following modern web standards.
- Ensured proper display across various screen resolutions — from widescreen desktops to narrow smartphones.
Integration
- Deployed the website on WordPress and configured basic page templates.
- Set up the content management system so client staff could independently edit text, replace images, and add new sections without developer assistance.
- Connected Google Analytics and Yandex.Metrica for monitoring user behavior and collecting traffic data.
Testing and Optimization
- Conducted cross-browser testing (Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Edge) and checked layout performance on iOS and Android devices.
- Verified correct rendering of all interface elements, such as “Where to Buy” buttons and interactive tabs with product leaflets.
- Optimized page loading: enabled CSS/JS minification and lazy image loading.
- Performed basic SEO setup: wrote meta tags (title, description) for key sections, configured clean URLs and sitemap generation.
Result
- The new website was successfully launched on time.
- All product-related content (descriptions, leaflets, composition) was transferred and uniformly formatted.
- The interface was intuitive: key sections (e.g., “Products,” “How to Choose,” “Articles”) were accessible in a single click.
- Mobile traffic increased by 45% due to responsive layout.
- Page load time was reduced by 30% compared to the previous version.
- The client received a fully editable system: pharmaceutical department staff can now add news, update instructions, and upload promotional materials without developer support.
Conclusion
This project not only refreshed the website’s visual appearance but also completely restructured the way content is managed. The new website for the sore throat medication offers quick and easy access to essential information for both patients and healthcare professionals. Responsive layout, optimized visuals, and unified content structure have boosted trust in the brand and improved behavioral metrics. We’re proud to have helped the client create a modern tool for educating users about safe and effective sore throat treatment.
